As we gear up for the first screening of our short film Guy, here is a first look.

Running a production company has been a whirlwind. I started Are We Having Fun LLC as an experimental venture into podcasting with my business partner/best friend, Stephanie Deeb. Female/multi-ethnic led stories weave through the bones of our production company as we build upon our values of sustainability and collaboration within film and social media production.
Our current order of business: Guy.
Guy is a 9-minute romantic comedy short film directed by Ana C. Rivera and filmed/edited by Albert Gonzalez. Their previous film Hi Sweetie is a 2022 award winner of Movie Play International Film Festival and finalist in United Artist Film Festival. Guy is Ana's directorial debut after producing multiple horror and sci-fi projects under her production company Fierce Orchid Productions, with an aim to blend Gen-X and millennial perspective through heartwarmingly dark and hilarious commentary.
I wrote it with a dear friend Jei Samuels as a callout to the messy, tumultuous state of dating nowadays. Both of us are actors who have dabbled with improv and sketch comedy, eager to tell our stories as we build our portfolios, and thus, Guy was born.
Guy came together within a few months for the Orlando Independent Filmmakers' Legend Challenge. This project was written as I filmed a 2023 Super Bowl M&M's commercial with Maya Rudolph, directed by Matt Piedmont, and was shot a month after the commercial aired. The project is a true test of the cast and crew's collective ability to dive in and make some serious movie magic happen.
Sprinkled with dark, quirky humor, some improvised moments, and modern-day film equipment/editing techniques, Guy is a cute but complex short film that pays homage to the early 2000s. *synopsis link to come*

To view the full film at its premiere, Guy will screen in the comedy block of the Orlando Independent Filmmakers' Legend Challenge on May 20, 2023 at Wayne Densch Theater, Sanford, FL. Purchase an event ticket here (and let us know if you're attending so we can say hi while we're there!).
